A Celebration evening was put together by Youth Workers at the HUB @ Connexions in Crewe on the 14th of July.  This was in recognition of and to celebrate the achievements the young people of Crewe & Nantwich had achieved via the provisions they had accessed through Connexions Integrated Youth Support Service.  The evening was to celebrate Shine Week, a national week which showcases the achievements of our local young people.

Over 60 people came to the event which was a great success. Local Councillors Cllr Dorothy Flude, Cllr Chris Thorley and Cllr Rodney Walker and the Deputy Mayor Cllr Roger West also attended and praised the achievements of the young people.

Everyone enjoyed the evening having their achievements recognised and celebrated. The Deputy Mayor gave a warm and praising speech at the start of the presentation of the certificates. Photos were taken with the Deputy Mayor and applause given to all.

The Deputy Mayor Roger West and Team Manager Kay Banks presented over 40 awards to young people which included Duke of Edinburgh’s sectional awards, ASDAN, First Aid and Participation.

Kay Banks, Team Manager for Connexions said: ‘it gave me great pleasure to present awards and witness so many young people in Crewe and Nantwich gaining national accreditation for their work.  The young people have worked hard in both volunteering and gaining new skills to complete these awards.  I would like to thank all the youth workers and volunteers for all their hard work in supporting young people through gaining their accreditation.’

There were displays showcasing the work of the young people that were explored while everyone enjoyed refreshments.
