UKYP Elections 2010

UKYP Election 2010

Young People get their vote!

The clock is counting down to the 2010 Elections for the UK Youth Parliament. All over the country young people will be voting to send representatives to the youth parliament which now holds its annual sitting in the House of Commons Chamber.

Young People aged 11-18 years are to be given the chance to participate in the United Kingdom Youth Parliament elections during January and February 2010, the process will be delivered through assemblies and workshops in schools, youth clubs and Connexions centres across Cheshire East and Chester West and Chester.

Young People came together during the later part of 2009 to identify candidates for the election, giving them the chance to stand as Member of Youth Parliament.

Out of the six candidates for Cheshire East and the six candidates for Cheshire West and Chester the elections will decide which two candidates become our Member of Youth Parliament and the remaining four will remain a valuable member of the UK Youth Parliament Team within a Deputy role, working in their localities to support other young people to get their voices heard.

The Candidates have been involved in their local areas and have worked closely with Connexions Youth Workers & Personal Advisors since they were chosen by their peers to stand for the election at our selection events.
