Young people celebrate in style with Aimhigher

Aimhigher Cheshire and Warrington held an awards evening with a twist at The University of Chester last week. Over 180 people attended the ceremony held in the Malloy building on the Chester Campus.

Young women race to make a difference

22 young women from across Macclesfield and Congleton worked with youth workers from Connexions - Cheshire & Warrington Limited on a fundraising mission that saw them all run the Race for Life in Tatton Park on June 20th. The girls in both areas had separately expressed an interest in fundraising and they approached youth workers to help them. The groups were introduced and worked together to plan and develop the Race for Life project.

Young skaters in Crewe work to improve facilities

A group of young people in Crewe who are supported by Connexions – Cheshire & Warrington Limited are working with Police Community Support Officers and local BMX shop owner Mike Warner to try and generate funding for an indoor skate park. On Friday the 25th the group met with MP Edward Timpson to go through plans so far and to seek his support for the venture.

Four young bands take to the stage in Middlewich

On June 18th the second band night of the summer was held at Middlewich town hall, despite clashing with the second England match over 50 young people attended and the night was a huge success.

Four local bands played during the evening covering a wide variety of musical styles, the crowd were all on their feet in front of the stage for much of the night. KD Acoustic opened the gig followed by Slipstream and Crash Site with Taking Liberties bringing the evening to a close. The atmosphere was fantastic; the room had a real buzz and everyone had a great time.

The British Youth Council (BYC) want to hear the views of young people aged 25 and under on how you would reform UK politics.

Following the expenses scandal and election of the first Coalition Government since World War Two, ideas about how to change the way politics works in the UK for the better continue to be top of the political agenda.

SURE Mental Health Service User’s Resource centre

SURE are a mental health service users group who give a voice to past and present mental health service receivers and their families in Northwich, Winsford and the surrounding area in order to improve access to and knowledge of local mental health services.

A Year as Consort in Northwich

When retiring Town Mayor Cllr Helen Burder handed over her chain to Cllr Steve Goff in May, a year as Mayor’s Consort for 16 year old Daniel Lewis also ended.  Daniel was the successful candidate at a selection event held by Cllr Burder in conjunction with Connexions- Cheshire & Warrington Limited shortly after she took office in May 2009. The aim of the Youth Consort was to bring a young persons perspective to the Council and to generate links between the generations hopefully shattering negative stereotypes along the way.

Crimebeat funding available! helping to make Cheshire Safer

Cheshire Crimebeat are offering funding for projects to help improve safety within your community.  You could be allocated up to £750 to spend on tackling safety issues that affect you. 

If you would like to give something back to society and have an idea of how you could make your community a better place then this could be an ideal opportunity for you.

Crimebeat funds are available to anyone aged between 5 and 25 years old.

Nextstep prize draw winner

Through out the Spring, Next Step; the adult careers service based in Connexions Centres has been running a prize draw. Everyone who met with an adviser and got an action plan was automatically put into the draw. ‘A New Year, A New You, A New Career!’ Prizes included beauty treatments from Mid-Cheshire college, West Cheshire College, South Cheshire College and Warrington Collegiate and Gym Passes for JD Sport and Fitness Gyms.

Connexions Resource Fair 2010

This year's Connexions Resource Fair will take place on 1st July 2010 at The Venue @ Connexions Northwich.

You can pop in at anytime during the day to visit the information stands and listen to the talks in the main hall.  Alternatively, should you wish to attend any of the workshops, each being approx one hour duration please complete the booking form.

First Youth Conference for Cheshire East Council

The first Cheshire East Youth Mayor Conference was held at Sandbach Town Hall on Wednesday June 2.
It involved the Cheshire East Council Youth Mayor team, the Cheshire East Youth Parliament and Connexions – Cheshire &Warrington Limited.
More than 40 young people attended, representing all areas and interests from across Cheshire East.

Looking for work over the Summer?

Play Leaders required in Northwich, Winsford and Frodsham.

20 hours per week Monday to Friday from 26th July to 27th August, includes one week’s training. Minimum pay of £6 per hour

Applicants should be:

  • well motivated,
  • resourceful,
  • energetic,
  • well organised…
  • and enjoy working with children aged 5-11 years.

Play Leaders will work in groups of three and be responsible for organising activities for up to 24 children of primary school age.

Summer of Fun for everyone in South Park

South Park in Macclesfield has an action packed summer of events ahead, Connexions – Cheshire & Warrington Limited took over the Pavilion in April and are organising a whole host of events from there over the next few weeks for the whole community.

On June 12th a day of fundraising is being held in the park for the race for life. Two groups, one from Congleton and one from Macclesfield will be trying to raise money with a range of activities including Karaoke. There will also be a Personal Adviser from Connexions having her head shaved to raise money.
