Dorin Park School Students Investigate Careers In Hospitality

Early this month a small group of year 10 pupils from Dorin Park School

spent an afternoon investigating the various career choices within the hospitality industry at Chester's new premier Doubletree Hilton Hotel. 

Connexions - Cheshire & Warrington Limited  had arranged for the young people to meet and discuss with staff their roles within the hotel and spa and see the new facilities for themselves.

National Youth Work Week took place in November and as part of the celebrations staff at Connexions – Cheshire and Warrington Limited switched places with young people who attend the HUB in Chester for an evening. Six young people took the roles of the youth workers and ran a session for other young people and for the youth workers with whom they had switched.

Shell and Education Business Link organise a ‘Big Conversation’

Shell Global Solutions (UK) and Education Business Link are joining forces to try and ensure that work experience for young people can be the most valuable experience possible.

An evening of Bronze and Silver at Chester Cathedral

On November the 10th over 400 people filled Chester Cathedral for the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award ceremony for all the young people in Cheshire West and Chester who have completed their award in the last year. The evening, which was organised by Connexions – Cheshire & Warrington Limited was a real celebration of what has been achieved and a chance for the young people to look forward to the next level of the award.

Congleton Jobs Fair

Congleton Jobs Fair was a huge success.

On Thursday the 5th of November a jobs and training fair known as ‘the big kiss’ was held in Congleton at the Town Hall. It is an annual event designed to meet the needs of all age groups, adults, young people and their parents. The event was organised by the Congleton Knowledge Information Sharing and Support Group better known as Congleton Kiss.

Cheshire members of UK Youth Parliament join the debate in the Commons.

On Friday the 30th of October 2009 Scott Prince, (Cheshire West & Chester), Jon Foster (Cheshire East) and Carissa Tossell (Cheshire East) joined over 300 other members of UK Youth Parliament from all across the County for a series of debates in the House of Commons. This historic event was the first time in 300 years that anyone other than the MP’s have sat to debate on the famous green benches and provided a chance for the next generation of Politicians to have a taste of Political life.

On Friday 13th November 2009 a new multi team partnership in Crewe headed by Connexions – Cheshire and Warrington Limited are planning to open the Mirion Street youth club for 13 – 19 year olds.
